Accessories become garments,

a garment becomes another garment,

parts of garment become again accessories.

Modular design, or modular construction, is a design strategy that subdivides a system into smaller parts, modules that are created independently and then can be used in different systems. In this way, reusable modules can be used in different systems - a kind of qualitative semi-manufactures enabling re-contextualisation and a long and varied product life.

This is an example of a modular fashion - clothing parts that can be added to and subtracted to create various kinds of garments, such as dresses, tops, skirts, with sleeves, without sleeves etc.

The collection is based on interconnected modules, flexible in design, fit and construction. The modules are 16 scarves, designed into 5 different types of garments.

It is a mono material collection, 100% polyester, including stitching and thus possible to recycle on fibre level.

I en ”vanlig” klädbutik med nytillverkade produkter hänger plaggen tydligt presenterade efter olika trender eller stilar. Ofta känner vi redan till dem på förhand genom reklam, bloggar och modereportage. Det är lättöverskådligt och vi kan lätt bläddra runt bland olika plagg i olika färgställningar och storlekar, och ändå inte missa något.

Inte konstigt att det kan kännas lätt panikartat att gå in i en second hand-butik – som ju har ett helt annat upplägg. Var ska jag börja? Hur ska jag bland alla dessa kläder hitta just mina fantastiska fynd?

Bara lugn! Genom den här kursen kan alla lära sig att handla second hand, eller i alla fall bli inspirerade till att utforska den ädla konsten. För utöver de små, men ack så viktiga detaljerna; att du gör en insats för miljön och att pengarna går till social verksamhet, så kan du med lite träning både hitta bättre, snyggare och kvalitetsmässigt intressantare kläder på en second hand än i en ”vanlig” butik.

Vad kommer du att lära dig?
Vi erbjuder ett enkelt och beprövat steg-för-steg-system i att handla kläder second hand. Dessutom får du en hel del stiltips samt hand on-kunskaper om material och kvalitet. Kursen passar både nybörjaren som vill förstå hur det hela funkar och den mer rutinerade second hand-konsumenten som vill bli inspirerad och få nya idéer.

Vad innehåller kursen?
Kursen innehåller lektioner i mailformat som landar direkt till din inkorg varje morgon i sex dagar. Varje lektion har en teoretisk och en praktisk del.

Swedish design - Zambian Craft

Yawama of Sweden's philosophy is to combine African craftsmanship with Swedish design. Through a partnership with the blogger Clara Lidstrom and the designer and stylist Anna Lidström, we have developed the concept Yawama Kids, a children's range that is unique in its kind. The collection includes products for children of all ages - that take into account environmental as well as producers.

Behind the production of soft toys are women in Zambia, which for each knitted animals get a much needed extra income. The women gather once a week to pick a new yarn for their work. These occasions have gradually become an important social meeting place and many stuffed animals Knit there - on a blanket in the shade of the hut.

Soft toys are knitted by 100% GOTS certified organic cotton yarn and stuffed with Oeko certified acrylic topping. Stuffed animals can be machine washed in lukewarm water, and then drip dried. Our handmade organic toys are tested according to international and EU standards and meets EN71-3 safety requirements for toys for children and are CE marked.

In April 2015 Anna and Nicola went to Zambia to search for and collect new interesting crafted table wear and home decoration products. This selection was made and shot in a beautiful garden i Lusaka. Styled and photographed by Anna Lidström

Yawama of Swedens handmade copper jewelry is designed by Anna Lidström in collaboration with a FREE Zambia- an organization that supports young women in the slum area Ngombe Compound in Zambia.

The bags are designed by Anna Lidström in collaboration with Zambian partners that work according to fair trade principles. Yawama of  Sweden also interacts with Chikumbuso, a women's group crocheting beautiful beach bags. The women in the group are widows who receive additional income from the sale of the handmade bags.

​Sporty and futuristic designs for trendy urban homes: Urban Active is an innovative, modern and fashion inspired concept created in collaboration with Swedish fashion designer Anna Lidström. With an obsession for details and a love of unexpected material combinations, Urban Active is truly a unique piece of art.

​Pillows specially made for two of Eightmoods romantic and modern concepts AW/2012. . 

​Odeur was founded in Stockholm in 2006 as a brand experiment, using a specific white, light and clean scent instead of a visual logotype to label the graphic and dramatic, yet playful garments. The first collection included a few t-shirt styles that where distributed amongst a few initial clients in Sweden and Japan.

Today Odeur is designed by Petter Hollström and Gorjan Lauseger, the first four collections was deigned in collaboration with Anna Lidström. Odeur has spread to 17 countries, selling jeans, outerwear, accessories and fashion clothing. The collection is represented at, amongst others, Harvey Nichols in Hong Kong, Temporary Showroom in Berlin, Oki-Ni in London and OAK NYC in New York.

Expressive interior products for home decoration. A mix of external brands and Dixie-designed products that are sold through selected retailers. The products are produced with respect for the environment.

A sofa covered pleated airbag fabric, an armchair designed with inspiration from a well-dressed gentleman, and a lampshade made of textile cords. Since September 2012 the design team of Studio Re:design have transformed textile waste into new products – to reduce the environmental impact of the textile business. The first prototypes where presented at the Furniture & Light Fair 2013 in Stockholm, Sweden.

Studio Re:design är ett initiativ som syftar till att främja arbetet med textilt återbruk inom kläd- och inredningsbranschen i Västra Götaland. Genom att se textilt överskott som en resurs och utveckla prototyper med hög design- och modegrad vill vi, tillsammans med Västsvenska företag, få redesign att nå sin kommersiella potential. Studio Re:design drivs av Västra Götalandsregionen i samarbete med Högskolan i Borås, Tillskärarakademin i Göteborg och Naturskyddsföreningen.

I Studio Re:design arbetar tre professionella designer - Anna Lidström, Gudrun Bonér och Marie-Louise Hellgren. De får in överskottsmaterial från lokala textilföretag och Röda korset. Av detta material gör de prototyper till våra samverksansföretag. Till projektet finns två affärsutvecklare - Ulrika Bergvall och Nenne Palmé - deras uppdrag är att få prototyperna till bra affärsidéer.

Underbara Claras Garderob: Pimpa, Sy & Fixa.

I Underbara Claras garderob visar Clara och hennes syster, modedesignern Anna Lidström, utförligt, bildrikt och inspirerande hur du gör gamla kläder nya. Alltifrån ett tråkigt, massproducerat trikåplagg till en loppisfyndad flanellskjorta får nytt liv. Dessutom skapar de smycken, upcyklar skor och piffar upp gamla väskor. Pysselbeskrivningarna varvas med träffsäkra och personliga texter om kläder, återbruk, kroppsnojor och om att finna sin egen stil.

Chemical innovation is a fashion revolution. The technological progress has been so rapid that we can no longer be sure that 'natural' materials are not in fact artificial imitations; fraud. Fashion intensifies and underlines feminine desirability, through the interplay between covered and exposed skin, often represented through bizarre aggressive manners. This work investigates the esthetic possibilities in unconventional materials in fashion design.  Garments are shaped to highlight versatile, alternative materials, and to challenge the surreal, 'ideal' female figure.

Fashion 156: 

"Of the MA collections, Anna Lidstrom’s designs stood out for their unique manipulation of industrial materials that challenged expectation. A beautifully cut suit made from refuse-sack plastic gave the impression of ‘found’ material, whilst foam and gaffa tape bracelets took ordinary objects and re-invented them as directional accessories. Foam, cardboard and even rubber were also used – with a pleated, cardboard a-line skirt standing out as a craftsmanship triumph. Vivid colours were introduced in the form of a vibrant blue foam jacket, colour-blocked against a pillar-box red voluminous plastic skirt and rubber and metal coiled necklaces completed the looks"

“Woven plastic crinkled suits, transparent polyethylene smock dresses, hosepipe necklaces and cardboard bangles. Artificial imitations of natural materials were the basis for this imposing collection. Industrial materials were juxtaposed against the femininity of shape and flesh. The versatility of unorthodox materials was showcased as the designer addressed the issue of chemical innovation in fashion. The wonderfully named ‘Fraud Matters’ collection was a witty interpretation of eco luxury”

Chloe Sexton:

"One of the most intriguing collections was that of Anna Lidstrom, who used industrial materials to create a thought provoking collection, questioning our usage of materials. A trouser suit was created out of bin liners, and yet because of the incredible tailoring, it almost took on the appearance of patent leather. Red plastic sheeting was manipulated, to create a  voluminous dress, and paired with a blue jacket crafted from foam. Cardboard was pleated to create a stiff A-Line skirt, that took on the appearance of a lampshade, and with jewellery made from gaffer tape, coiled metal and polystyrene, Lidstrom managed to create a haute couture collection from the mundane"

​The clown is a painful memory. It is sometimes a picture of me. Sometimes of her. Sometimes it is a symbol of what is behind the smile. It holds the unbearable itch of mourning a loved one. Dejected the clown leans against her steel stand. Broken down by illness and pain. Sometimes we all need something to lean against.

The clown has been my constant companion and reminder. For when the facial features are vague is the memory of her clothes still strong. How it was to be embraced. How it was to lean against her.

The interdisciplinary research project integrity – culture concerns integrity of smart textiles in a metropolitan context, Tokyo. The purpose has been to explore metropolitan culture and to investigate how new technologies in clothing can be integrated in this urbanity.

A collection regarding the developed concept of hiding and seeking – creating or sharing space/ communicate demonstrates how garments including smart textiles can be integrated in an urban environment: parts that can be inflated create either space and provide the wearer a shelter from the crowd, offering something to lean on and rest or to invite other people to lean on it and share; a dress with an extended part printed with thermo chromic ink invites people to sit on it, thereby making communication and getting into touch with people easier; clothes that have integrated lumitech-technology use light as a medium to communicate different things in different ways by making it reacting to different environmental circumstances.
